Dialogue: Vermonter/Flatlander

February 10, 2010

CUT TO:

EXT. NANA’S HOUSE – DAY

Nana and Ryan stand on the ridge and survey the view. The leaves are gone, the trees bare and the ground gray. It looks miserable. It is the winter that happens before snow.

RYAN
(pointing)
So what’s that?

NANA
Apple orchard.

RYAN
And it’s yours too?

NANA
Yep.

RYAN
It looks…

NANA
I don’t tend it if that’s what
you’re saying.

RYAN
Ah.

A pause.

RYAN
So you really live up here alone.

NANA
(got a problem?)
Yep.

RYAN
No family?

NANA
Didn’t say that.

RYAN
Ah.
